Students learn about various types of writing such as compare and contrast, cause and effect, argumentative, and descriptive essays to develop their writing skills. In particular, through essays, articles, and editorials, they will learn about the writing process such as an organization and a structure of an essay, selection and development of a thesis, and edition and revision to write clear, coherent essays. An instructor will lead class discussions in a debate format to help students sharpen their reasoning skills and also teaches them about grammar, mechanics, and effective writing to improve students' writing skills and boost their confidence in writing.
